Bryant Baptist Church

The Bryant Baptist Church was founded in 1942 at 601 South 17th Street. At that time the late Rev. Willie Livingston began his struggle to find a building. 1428-30 Bainbridge Street later became our church home.

Rev. Walker was installed as Pastor of Bryant after the passing of Rev. Livingston. He served from 1955-1960.

In May of 1960 Rev. James Muldrow was called from New York City and installed to pastor our church and under his leadership two buildings were torn down and the church was extended to Kenilworth Street and also under his leadership the mortgage was burned. He served faithfully and in November 1991 God called Rev. Muldrow from labor to rewardship the mortgage was burned. He served faithfully and in November 1991 God called Rev. 1990 Rev. Lee Jones became Pastor. He served until 1995 and later resigned. In June 1996 Leroy Scott, Jr. was called to Pastor the Bryant Baptist Church.

In 2004 the 1428-30 Bainbridge Street building was sold, we worshipped at the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and on the 4th Sunday in March 2007 we marched into our new church home at 1140 S. 19th Street.

In January 2008 Pastor Leroy Scott, Jr. retired as Pastor and he named his successor, Rev. D. Omar Epps became the Pastor of the Bryant Baptist Church, Pastor Epps was installed the 1st Sunday in May 2008. Pastor Epps has a vision for God’s people and a ministry of community outreach.

God is continually blessing our church and we are growing spiritually and in membership.
